Big mummy has been posting pictures of cake all week because of a study that stated that looking at cake made it easier to lose weight. I’m WAY too suggestible for that, but boy have I enjoyed looking at the cake. That’s why I was so glad that Dan found these mini cupcakes. They are a little wider than a quarter and about 100 calories.
In another universe (last year-wedding planning was SO STRESSFUL, not to mention a cross-country move) The entire box of cupcakes would be gone. Being on low carb, I felt very deprived and also felt like if I cheated, I might as well go all the way. Now that moderation is the key, I can enjoy certain things within certain parameters. Single serving cupcakes at 100 calories/cake I can handle. An actual cake….not so much.
I have realized that we can’t have things where you can have a little of this and a little of that. I need set servings/portion sizes to do well. This kind of makes me feel like a child. But, I guess it’s better this way than the alternative!
Even better this way I get to eat my cake and lose weight too! Sorry for tempting you, but maybe looking at all these cupcake pictures are reaffirming your weight loss efforts!
What is the strangest technique that works for you in your weight loss?

I can watch someone else eat and get some sort of strange satisfaction from it.
Oh yeah, and I sleep with a hunk of fudge in my mouth.
For me, in my journey to lose all my weight, I realized that I still needed to be able to eat the things I loved. But, learning to eat just a little bit of them took time.
You can do this! I love the little cupcakes!
I actually like the food network.
But I hardly watch it since I've started blogging.
the thing is with the itty bitty cakes is that they are entirely bit sized- and once one has made the play to be eaten they all want in on the fun.
None of big_mummys cakes tempted me. NOT ONE. you post one teeny weeny beautiful iccle cupcake BAM. I WANT ONE AND I WANT ONE NOW.
devil woman!
I could probably pass those cute lil buggers up, unless they come in CHOCOLATE?? then forget it, all bets are off.
And personally for me, if I flip through cookbooks with lots of pics or watch the Food Network for long Im seriously headed for Binge-City!
Jack: my dentist won't let me eat with fudge in my mouth, i wonder what his problem is!
Diane, I'm trying so hard to retrain myself, I feel like it's a meal to meal decision. I'll keep reaffirming until it's how I live!
Anne: I watch foodnetwork while blogging...mmmm foodnetwork
Sarah and Simone, sorry for the tempt!
Circle: I saw them in chocolate today and thought of your comment. Weirdly enough (and my husband does want to disown me for this) I LOVE yellow cake with vanilla icing. So much more than chocolate....we all have something weird!
